Race 2 - WOODLANDS STUD - HIGHVIEW TOMMY MOBILE PACE
Trainer D Anderson reported that blood tests taken from MAJOR STRIDE had shown the gelding to have a high white blood cell count to which treatment had commenced. Mr Anderson stated it was his intention to engage MAJOR STRIDE to race at the Ashburton Meeting on the 26th December 2014.

Race 1 BISHOPDALE/BUSH INN TABS & TAVERN HAREWOOD MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
LEXINGTON LAD had a warning placed on its mobile barrier record after this gelding broke shortly after the start checking BILLY JACK which, upon settling placed VALHALLA in restricted room causing this runner to break.
BRUTE UTE ANVIL raced wide from the 1200 metres.
GRADUATE UNDER FIRE was held up on the final bend behind the tiring FRANCO HEPBURN.
REDMARO broke briefly on the final turn after SMOKIN CHICK had attempted to ease it wider on the track with this in turn inconveniencing BATINI. Stewards spoke with drivers D Reardon (REDMARO) and R Sissons (SMOKIN CHICK) regarding this incident and after hearing their submissions and viewing all available films no action was warranted other than to caution Mr Sissons and advised him to take more care when shifting ground to improve in future.
VALHALLA was cleared from the unruly for future mobile events at the request of Trainer G Cook.
 
Race 2 J D & E A PROPERTIES LTD TROT Video  Video 
Horseman D Dunn (TWELVE MONKEYS) was fined $100 for failing to arrive on course by the prescribed time.
There was a delay to the start of this race when ROCKET required a change of sulky wheel.
SHAY SCOTT broke at the start losing considerable ground and again near the 1200 metres losing its chance.
SQUIRE JOHN broke at the start losing considerable ground and again leaving the final bend. Co-trainer P Wakelin advised she would now give consideration to spelling the gelding.
TWELVE MONKEYS broke racing into the first turn and lost a significant amount of ground. This gelding then broke again on several other occasions during the running.
NATIVES BRITE GEM trotted roughly throughout the final straight and was unable to be placed under any pressure.
ROCKET trotted roughly and in an uneven fashion over the final stages.
PURE EMOTION trotted roughly over the early stages of the run home. Trainer/Driver N Burton advised the Stewards his mare had objected to the whip of T Chmiel who was driving MOMENT OF LOVE. Stewards reviewed this part of the race with both Mr Burton and Mr Chmiel and after doing so advised Mr Chmiel to ensure his whip did not leave the confines of his sulky in future.
 
Race 3 J R'S BAR & GRILL HOME OF THE $10 ROAST PACE Video  Video 
The start was delayed after the sulky on GO COLLECT had to be replaced after it kicked in the preliminary bending a shaft.
VALOR LUSTRE broke at the start.
SARAH P broke at the start and lost considerable ground and its chance. Trainer M Perriton advised that SARAH P would be restricted to mobile start events in future.
DANIELLE VAN DE KAMP had a warning placed against its racing manners after it broke racing into the first turn hampering SHANTAHLIA ROMEO for a considerable distance. DANIELLE VAN DE KAMP broke the near side hopple while in a break.
BARON VON DRACULA sustained a punctured sulky wheel with approx 2100 metres to run after it was contacted by CAPTAIN THUNDERJET (R Holmes). Mr Holmes was fined the sum of $250.00 by the J.C.A after he admitted driving in a careless manner at this stage of the race.
SHANTAHLIA ROMEO hung inwards throughout the running.
FABULEUX broke on the final bend near the 350 metres and lost its chance. When questioned regarding this driver G Payne explained that the gelding had not been suited to the grass track and he intended to restrict its racing to all weather surfaces.
BETTOR LUCK and GO COLLECT were held up for clear racing room in the run home.
Stewards questioned M Neilson as the driver of BETTOR LUCK regarding her decision to shift down the track near the 1900 metres instead of maintaining her position in the two out line. Miss Neilson advised the gelding had raced roughly during the early stages and felt it was likely to pace better when positioned on the rail which she reported that it had. Miss Neilson further added that the stable would consider making adjustments to the horse's hopples and that any future racing would be from a mobile start which she felt would suit the horse's gait better.
 
Race 4 PLOUGH HOTEL & HONORARY STEWARDS PACE Video  Video 
LOUIE FINN displayed cantankerous behaviour prior to addressing the barrier.
THOMAS reared after the tapes were released and then swung outwards and then inwards making heavy contact with the running rail. VALMARA was severely inconvenienced as a result with the Stewards advising the connections of THOMAS that it would now be drawn unruly from a standing start.
BIRD OF PARADISE broke at the start and lost its chance.
PAY ME VISA raced roughly after about 200 metres and had to be restrained by driver T Chmiel.
SOUNDS ORSUM pulled a shoe during the running and was inclined to lay inwards throughout the run home. Horseman K O'Reilly advised that despite his efforts the removable hood on this runner failed to activate. He further advised that the gelding was not suited to the Rangiora grass track and it was his intention to stick to all-weather surfaces in the immediate future
PAY ME VISA and ZOEROTTEN ran out of racing room late in the run home.
 
Race 5 JACK BEHRNS MEMORIAL HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
DANKE broke at the start.
NATIVE'S BRITE SPARK broke after about 100 metres and lost its chance in the event.
SHELL SEEKER raced wide throughout the early stages.
EVANDER D GO raced wide and without cover from the 1500 metres then weakened on the final bend near the 300 metres.
HEZA MIGHTY MONARCH broke in the early stages of the run home and continued on in a break across the finish line. Trainer/driver N McGrath advised the gelding had felt uncomfortable in its gait throughout the event.
WILLIE SHINE trotted roughly over the concluding stages and was unable to be driven out with any vigour.
The all clear was delayed until Stewards reviewed all available replays and were satisfied that WILLIE SHINE was in its correct gait when crossing the finish line.
 
Race 6 TAGGART EARTHMOVING LTD PACE Video  Video 
SHANTAHLIA KNIGHT, LIFESTYLER and VEGA SICILIA all broke at the start.
GONDOLIER broke entering the final bend which inconvenienced SHANTAHLIA KNIGHT.
FIFTEEN C weakened passing the 600 metres.
SO YOU THINK after receiving an economical trip throughout struggled to maintain its position from the 400 metres and struck several pylons rounding the final turn while under pressure and finished a considerable distance from the winner. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer B Ward advised he would re-assess the mare's racing future.
 
Race 7 CALVERT CLEANING MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
DANNY DEL VITO paced roughly and broke momentarily when improving three wide nearing the 1100 metres.
SOPHIE ROSE had a warning placed against its performance after the mare struggled to maintain its position with the field from the 800 metres finishing a considerable distance from the winner. Trainer T Jellyman advised he would no longer be persevering with SOPHIE ROSE as a racing proposition.
 
Race 8 RANGIORA NEW WORLD SUMMER CUP (HANDICAP PACE) Video  Video 
SOMEARDENSOMEWHERE was placed on the unruly at the request of it's connections after the gelding broke at the start losing considerable ground.
SUPREME GEM had a warning placed on its standing start manners after it broke and shifted inwards abruptly at the start severely impeding FRANCO REVEL, QUICK AS A TRICK and REGULUS.
MACH'S GLADIATOR began awkwardly settling at the rear of the field. When questioned regarding this driver G Smith reported that the gelding had shied at the barrier when it hit the ground near the outside fence.
Horseman G Smith dropped his foot from the sulky footrest when activating the removable deafeners on MACH'S GLADIATOR early in the run home.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of MACH'S GLADIATOR the connections advised that the gelding had benefited from the addition of sliding blinds and the fact that it had been driven in a more forward position today. Mr Smith advised it was their intention to drive MACH'S GLADIATOR prominently when circumstances permit in future.
 
Race 9 NORTH CANTERBURY TROTTING WORKOUTS COMMITTEE HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
ROYAL ASPIRATIONS was slow to begin and trotted roughly over the early stages.
INDIANA JONES broke near the 2100 metres and lost considerable ground.
 
Race 10 NEXT MEETING AT RANGIORA 31ST DECEMBER MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
DONEGAL JIMMY DAVE broke after about 200 metres and failed to settle for a considerable distance losing its chance.
MIDNIGHT WARRIOR weakened passing the 500 metres and broke in the early stages of the run home. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be showing signs of a possible virus and as a consequence was stood down pending a vet clearance
SUPRIYA struck several pylons on the final bend. Horseman C DeFilippi was cautioned to make a greater effort to avoid striking track markers in future.
RAPID MACH gave ground over the concluding stages after working through the middle stages. Driver D Dunn reported that the race wasn't run to suit. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no clinical abnormalities.
 
Race 11 MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM RANGIORA HRC PACE Video  Video 
MATCH POINT had a warning placed on its barrier manners after it shifted inwards abruptly at the start checking FAIR DINKUM BROMAC and IDEAL ARDEN.
FAIR DINKUM BROMAC commenced to tire from the 700 metres. Trainer/driver M Jones advised that the gelding is unsuited to having to work in the middle stages.
SHADOW RIDER paced roughly and broke losing its chance upon entering the home straight.
MAGIC OATS failed to finish the race of competitively with Co-Trainer T Chmiel advising the gelding failed to handle the grass surface however he was still disappointed with its effort. He further stated that he would be having blood tests taken in the coming days of which he would notify Stewards of these results.
Driver J Hay (JACKO) advised he lost his whip nearing the 200 metres. An investigation was opened into the manner in which Mr Hay drove JACKO out over the concluding stages.
