Wet weather dust sheets and mudguards were required from Race 2 onwards.
From Race 6 onwards Stewards exercised discretion in relation to Penalties due to the heavy rain which had occurred throughout the day resulting in track conditions being very testing.
Pre-race blood testing was conducted.

Following TORPEDO'S last race day appearance, trainers G & J Knight advised the Stewards TORPEDO had suffered a tendon injury and would now be retired from racing.

Race 2 - PRYDES EASIFEED TROT
Following the disappointing performance of NO POTATO, the connections of NO POTATO undertook blood tests and had the gelding saline drenched prior to today's meeting. The blood tests returned clear and the connections advised NO POTATO had picked up following the Forbury Park race and they were expecting an improved performance.

Race 1 296 TOP END TAKEAWAYS HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
SPRINGBANK EDEN, WOTUDOIN and CONARINA all broke at the start with WOTUDOIN failing to settle for a considerable distance after switching into a pace.
HOPE AND PRAY trotted roughly when being crossed over for the lead by SNOW BOY (R McIlwrick) near the 700 metre mark. R McIlwrick was cautioned to exercise more care in future when crossing to the lead pursuant to Rule 869(4).
MISS COCO commenced to tire from the 500 metres.
HOPE AND PRAY broke briefly approaching the 400 metres and then again near the 150 metres.
ANOTHERSUPERSTAR (R Norman) hung inwards in the home straight when being driven out.
 
Race 2 NIGHTCAPS HOTEL MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
The official track conditions were downgraded to Slushy prior to the start of this event.
TINTED LIGHT was fractious and failed to come out of the pre-race formation losing considerable ground at the dispatch point. The connections of TINTED LIGHT were warned to improve the mobile barrier manners of their mare.
BEAUDIENE GAMBLER (R McIlwrick) was caught wide through the early stages. BEAUDIENE GAMBLER then improved its position three wide from the 1700 metres and paced roughly on several occasions. As a result BEAUDIENE GAMBLER was caught three wide without cover for the remainder of the race. BEAUDIENE GAMBLER had to be restrained when giving ground near the 400 metre mark.
TINTED LIGHT gave ground sharply from the 600 metres.
NOTHINGFORTHEMEDIA paced roughly near the 500 metres when improving its position wider on the track.
FIRST SON was held up through the middle stages of the run home.
Trainer L Bond advised the Stewards it was his intention to revert back to standing start events with TINTED LIGHT. Mr Bond also advised the mare was showing signs of tying up which was confirmed by a post-race veterinary examination.
When spoken to regarding BEAUDIENE GAMBLER being restrained around the final bend, driver R McIlwrick advised that BEAUDIENE GAMBLER was commencing to tire after receiving a hard trip throughout and no other runners had tightened his runner.
 
Race 3 WINTON NIGHT'N DAY FOODSTORE MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
BEAUDIENE BEAUT BABE hung through the middle stages.
THE CHARGING MOA gave ground from the 600 metres and just prior to the 400 metres was restrained by driver M Williamson.
LEAVE IT TO ME was held up through the early stages of the run home before angling wider on the track for clear racing room.
The Stewards questioned M Williamson regarding when he had to take a hold of THE CHARGING MOA near the 400 metres. Mr Williamson advised that the filly had commenced to tire and race greenly at this stage of the race.
When questioned regarding the performance of MELINA LOWE, trainer/driver K Larsen advised he was somewhat disappointed with the run which he put down to the prevailing slushy track conditions.
 
Race 4 SOUTHLAND VEHICLE SALES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
MACHJAGGER was forced to race wide without cover when improving from the 900 metres.
JETRANGE, NUREYEV and GROOMSMAN were all held up rounding the final bend with GROOMSMAN also being held up for the majority of the run home with driver S Walkinshaw reporting he did not activate the removable deafeners on the horse.
When questioned regarding the performance of favoured runner MACHJAGGER, driver N Williamson reported he was not overly disappointed with the run after being forced to race wide without cover from the 900 metres and then being pushed wider on the final bend.
The Stewards questioned driver S Walkinshaw (GROOMSMAN) regarding the tactics he adopted over the final stages of the race. Mr Walkinshaw advised he had initially intended to continue following the three wide line however they had been flushed wider on the final bend. He had therefore elected to improve his position further inwards however no gaps had presented themselves prior to him shifting outwards near the 100 metres.
 
Race 5 JACCKA LODGE HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
Shortly after the start GOLDEN GATE shifted outwards abruptly onto SCARLETT LANE with both these runners becoming entangled and losing all chance in the event. SCARLETT LANE was subsequently retired from the event. The connections of GOLDEN GATE were issued with a warning to improve their mare's standing start manners.
IDLE EYRE, CHIOLA BELLE and MOKOSUN all broke over the early stages losing their chance in the event with IDLE EYRE breaking again rounding the first bend.
HARLINDON trotted roughly through the early stages before breaking near the 1600 metres.
CHIOLA BELLE broke again rounding the final bend.
 
Race 6 WILLY'S FLOORING LTD MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
After approximately 150 metres CLEO MAGUIRE broke and failed to settle losing all chance.
Racing into the first bend LIAM SIENNA which was improving three wide broke and failed to settle for a considerable distance.
JUST NED paced roughly just prior to the home straight.
BOOTIE BROMAC had to shift ground inwards over the final 100 metres to gain clear racing room.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of JUST NED, trainer M Saunders advised the shorter distance of the race today had suited the gelding. He further added he made gear changes resulting in JUST NED working well in the lead up to today and he had anticipated a forward showing.
Stewards questioned S Walkinshaw regarding why he elected to shift ground outwards off the back of JUST NED near the 300 metres. Mr Walkinshaw advised that he did not anticipate JUST NED would get him to the Passing Lane however once he had shifted out JUST NED had ran on strongly much to his surprise. Mr Walkinshaw further added he believed HOKURI RAILRIDA was travelling best of the leaders turning for home and he preferred to follow this runner into the race. The Stewards accepted Mr Walkinshaw's explanation with no further action warranted.
 
Race 7 MERV N MILLY PACE Video  Video 
Racing into the first bend ADD NO INTEREST broke before settling at the rear of the field.
NIGHTMARCH (R Swain) momentarily raced in restricted room when KING LOUIE (N Williamson) improved on its inside near the 250 metre mark.
KING LOUIE was held up in the home straight until shifting ground outwards to obtain clear racing room inside the final 100 metres.
 
Race 8 OTAUTAU FOUR SQUARE SUPERMARKET WAIRIO CUP (HANDICAP PACE) Video  Video 
Just prior to start SHAK'N CULLEN (G Lee) swung sideways shifting inwards towards IN THE KITTY (H Hunter).
Simultaneously as the tapes were released IN THE KITTY shifted in abruptly resulting in JANGO FETT (K Larsen) from the 10 metres becoming entangled with IN THE KITTY.
SHAK'N CULLEN also locked sulky wheels with IN THE KITTY.
CHAR DO NEIGH (B Barclay) and THE WRATH OF ROBYN (C Ferguson) were also checked in this incident with THE WRATH OF ROBYN being retired from the event.
ACOLYTE was held up rounding the final bend and ran out of racing room over the concluding stages.
Following this event the Stewards requested a Ruling from the JCA in relation to the start pursuant to Rule 213 (1)(j) as to whether IN THE KITTY, SHAK'N CULLEN, CHAR DO NEIGH, JANGO FETT, and THE WRATH OF ROBYN had been denied a fair start and such occurrence materially prejudiced the chances of those horses. After hearing evidence from the Stewards, Mr B Ward (Starter) and the respective horsemen the JCA ruled that all those horses had been denied a fair start and as such each runner was declared a late scratching.
 
Race 9 RYAL BUSH TRANSPORT LTD FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
There was lengthy delay to the start of this event due to the prolonged enquiry into the start of the previous race.
PLATINUM PRINCESS raced keenly through the early stages and skied its head when being restrained.
SHEEZA SHARK was held up rounding the final bend and throughout the run home.
Over the final 50 metres LUMINESCE (C Ferguson) and PLATINUM PRINCESS (B Barclay) both had to be restrained when SHEEZA SHARK (N Williamson) shifted ground outwards simultaneously as B D WINDERMERE (A Armour) was finishing strongly on the outside of the track. B D WINDERMERE had also hung inwards at this stage of the race when being driven out. The Stewards adjourned an enquiry into this matter sine die.
N Williamson (SHEEZA SHARK) was warned pursuant to Rule 869(4) for the manner he drove over the concluding stages when shifting ground outwards causing tightening to LUMINESCE (C Ferguson) and PLATINUM PRINCESS (B Barclay).
 
Race 10 HIGHWAY SERVICES INVERCARGILL LTD PACE Video  Video 
The start time of this event was rescheduled to 7.35 pm.
SPINYBACK and CHARGE OVER both tangled over the early stages.
JACCKA MARA and SUPERFREAK both broke at the start with JACCKA MARA breaking again after approximately 200 metres.
ABSOLUTELY FLYIN broke after approximately 400 metres losing all chance.
ONEDIN PLAYGIRL which had struggled to maintain its trailing position then commenced to give ground sharply passing the 1400 metres and was subsequently retired from the event by trainer/driver P Hunter. A post-race veterinary examination of ONEDIN PLAYGIRL revealed that the filly had suffered an atrial fibrillation with a veterinary clearance including an ECG required prior to ONEDIN PLAYGIRL resuming racing.
SPINYBACK and SUPERFREAK both over raced during the middle stages of the race.
SPINYBACK and JACCKA MARA were both held up rounding the final bend.
RIVER PATROL had difficulty obtaining clear racing room throughout the run home and raced greenly over the concluding stages.
CHARGE OVER briefly raced in restricted room near the 150 metres.
Just short of the winning post RIVER PATROL had to be sharply restrained when running out of racing room near the finish line.
Co-trainer G Knight reported he would have blood tests performed on the favourite ONEDIN ONYX in the coming days and report any findings to the Stewards.
 
Race 11 D T KING & CO LTD MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
The start time of this event was rescheduled to 8.00 pm.
There was a further significant delay to the start of this event when the sulky on GREAT ABBEY required changing.
A false start was declared when BALFOUR BUTLER hung outwards and locked wheels with FOREST BLAZZAR in the score up. Driver M Williamson elected to start BALFOUR BUTLER from the outside of the second line for the restart. The connections of BALFOUR BUTLER were advised the gelding was on a warning for causing a False Start.
A second false start was declared when RIGHTEOUS HONOUR broke prior to the dispatch point checking SCHERGER KHAN on the second line. Driver T Robertson elected to start RIGHTEOUS HONOUR from its allotted position for the restart. The connections of RIGHTEOUS HONOUR were advised their gelding was warned for causing a False Start.
PATCHWORK CLOUD (B Morris) raced fiercely through the early stages after leading briefly and then being restrained to take a trailing position.
RIGHTEOUS HONOUR also raced fiercely through the early and middle stages.
With approximately 1900 metres to run PATCHWORK CLOUD which had placed driver B Morris in extreme difficulty contacted the back of the leader GREAT ABBEY and broke before shifting inside the pylons to allow the trailing runners a safe passage. RIGHTEOUS HONOUR and SCHERGER KHAN were inconvenienced by PATCHWORK CLOUD at this stage of the race. As a result HAPPY LOU was also inconvenienced when forced to race three wide before improving to the parked position.
PATCHWORK CLOUD raced greenly again at the winning post on the first occasion.
With 1300 metres to run ARMOR DALE broke and briefly hindered I TRY. ARMOR DALE failed to settle losing all chance with driver A Amour reporting to the Stewards that the gelding had felt lame in a hind leg. Stewards requested a post-race veterinary examination of ARMOR DALE which confirmed that ARMOR DALE had suffered a suspected suspensory and fetlock ligament rupture. The connections were advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to ARMOR DALE racing next.
PATCHWORK CLOUD gave ground from the 800 metres. A warning was placed on the racing manners of PATCHWORK CLOUD.
FOREST BLAZZAR (D Dunn) while being restrained shifted inwards with 200 metres to run making contact with the sulky of BOLD RULER then breaking. As a result BALFOUR BUTLER broke when driver M Williamson attempted to avoid FOREST BLAZZAR. A warning was placed on the racing manners of FOREST BLAZZAR.
Simultaneously RIGHTEOUS HONOUR broke when improving into the Passing Lane.
