The start was delayed due to the sulky wheel on DARK OPS requiring attention.
SONEY BEATT, THE DENNISTON ROSE, LOVE THE MOMENT and TEHORO RUBY all broke in the score up.
CYCLONE JETER was unable to take up its position behind the mobile and started about three lengths out of position in consequence.
DARK OPS broke as the start was effected.
GRACE LIGHTNING broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
TEHORO RUBY broke nearing the 1400 metres.
BROOKSIDE COLT hung inwards on the final turn and continued to do so throughout the final straight. BROOKSIDE COLT then raced roughly racing past the 100 metres and had to be steadied by driver D Butt.
CYCLONE JETER raced roughly throughout the run home with driver N McGrath unable to place the filly under any significant pressure.
SONEY BEATT underwent a post-race veterinary examination due to it returning to the stables in a distressed condition. SONEY BEATT was found to have an abnormally slow recovery rate. The horse was treated on-course and the connections advised they would be having blood tests taken in the coming days to which they would notify Stewards of these results.

B Negus as the trainer of CHANTREY notified the Stewards that the gelding had sustained some grazing to its front legs today. This horse was examined upon arrival at the course and then again during its preliminary at which point it was cleared to compete.
Stewards reviewed the films of the 1400 metres regarding runners PROVOCATIVE PRINCE and BETTOR THINK TWICE who were both attempting to improve their position which resulted in BETTOR THINK TWICE racing four wide for a short distance. It was deemed that PROVOCATIVE PRINCE had shifted outwards in advance of BETTOR THINK TWICE reaching the outside of its wheel and for this reason the matter was taken no further.
JOHNNY EYRE was held up for clear racing room through the early and middle stages of the run home.
ART CRITIC had some difficulty obtaining clear racing room throughout the run home.
 
Race 3 THINK HELLERS FOR SUMMER BBQ'S MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
RED HOT TODDY broke in the score up however settled in sufficient time to take up its rightful position at despatch.
TOKOHOKA was several lengths out of position at despatch.
UNCLE TREVOR was inclined to race wide through the early stages with this gelding then compounding from the 800 metres. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed an abnormal slow recovery rate. Trainer G Cook advised it was his intention to send the gelding for a spell.
DELIGHTFUL DASH over-raced through the middle stages.
DANA DUKE weakened considerably from the 400 metres. When questioned with regards to the run of this gelding, driver T Bagrie could offer no explanation but advised he was very disappointed with the efforts of the gelding. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no clinical abnormalities. The connections advised they would have blood tests taken in the coming days and would notify Stewards.
When questioned regarding the performance of TOKOHOKA, Junior Horseman M Anderson advised the gelding had travelled lethargically throughout and had been very disappointed with its efforts considering how well it had worked during the week. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an abnormal recovery rate and Stewards will follow-up with Trainers Purdon & Rasmussen in the coming days.
Stewards spoke with T Lethaby as the driver of GREENBURN CREEK regarding his foot being free of the sulky foot-rest for a considerable distance on the final bend. Mr Lethaby assisted by T Butt explained he had attempted to activate the deafeners on the gelding but had underestimated the length of the cord and been forced to make several attempts to affect them. After viewing the films, Stewards accepted his explanation.
 
Race 4 LINDAUER LAWN AFTER DARK PARTY 14 FEBRUARY MOBILE TROT Video  Video 
MOMENT OF SUN was out of position by several lengths at despatch after it had raced roughly in stages of the score up.
SUMMER VACATION broke nearing the 1500 metres effectively losing its chance in the event.
THE BOG over-raced while leading throughout the middle stages.
LE GARCON raced roughly over the final 700 metres resulting in the gelding conceding several lengths on the trailing DIXIE COMMANDO. Because of this both KOWHAI SUNRISE and MOMENT OF SUN were badly held up.
YOUNG STRANGER broke at the 500 metres.
MOMENT OF SUN then broke near the 400 metres with driver G Lee reporting to the Stewards that the mare had raced keenly and struck its own sulky wheels.
LE GARCON broke at the 250 metres.
TART N TIGHTS broke with about 30 metres remaining.
 
Race 5 GRANITE BENCHTOP COMPANY MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
CHAMPAGNE DREAMS hung inwards and raced roughly before breaking at the 1000 metres which hampered the trailing ROYAL CAROLINE, CHASING SHADOWS and BRIDGET BLUE CHIP for several strides. When questioned regarding this, driver J Cox advised the filly had struck its shin. The filly underwent a veterinary examination after blood was found present on the near-side front coronet consistent with it striking this area when breaking during the race. This was treated by the on-course veterinarian. Trainer M Jones advised the filly would be sent for a week's spell.
GERALD broke approaching the 400 metres with a warning placed on the gelding's racing record.
SPEEDSKI lost ground when racing roughly near the 400 metres which inconvenienced MARITIME ARDEN and ART EXHIBIT who were held up in consequence. SPEEDSKI continued to race roughly for the remainder of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed inflammation in the gelding's right hind hock along with general rubbing from its hopples on all legs. Trainer /driver K Barron advised he was at a loss to explain the gelding's tendency to race rough in its races and advised that he would no longer be persevering with him.
CHAMPAGNE DREAMS broke again at the 300 metres.
ART EXHIBIT had some difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the middle stages of the run home.
 
Race 6 PRODIGAL SEELSTER CANTY SUMMER OF SPEED SERIES (MOBILE) Video  Video 
STRADOWAN was out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver G Chmiel.
KARANGA RED FANTASY raced wide and without cover from the 900 metres.
LITTLE TESS over-raced through the middle stages.
WOODLEA DJ and STRADOWAN were held up for clear racing room throughout the entirety of the home straight.
 
Race 7 FAHEY FENCE HIRE TROT Video  Video 
XMAS JOYELLA raced wide in the early and middle stages.
MONTY PYTHON was inclined to lay outwards when racing through the straights.
REGAL MOMENT was held up between the 700 metres and the 400 metres by MIRI which was having some difficulty maintaining its position amongst the field.
NATURAL hung inwards on the final bend, but despite the efforts of driver D Butt the mare shifted inwards and crowded the racing room of GIN RUMMY which raced roughly for several strides and had to be steadied by driver I Cameron.
SUNGAIT SALLY struck pylons when placed under pressure on the final bend.
After entering the final straight SUNGAIT SALLY blundered when in restricted room to the inside of GIN RUMMY which was shifting down the track. Driver I Cameron was shown the film of this incident and advised that in future he was to show a greater level of caution than he had done so on this occasion.
 
Race 8 RNP HOMES LTD MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
FOUR STARZZZ FLASH was obliged to race three wide through the early and middle stages.
FOUR STARZZZ FLASH weakened passing the 600 metres which inconvenienced ALL STAR MAN and LEWY RISK with these runners having to shift wider to continue to improve. ALL STAR MAN was then further inconvenienced when HERE WE GO AGAIN hung inwards on the final bend.
 
Race 9 SHEPHERD & KIME LTD TROT Video  Video 
MILLIONS TO SPARE and PAMMYS BOY broke at the start.
PRESTINE swung outwards shortly after the start and was slow to begin which resulted in ZACHARY BINX being checked into a gallop and losing ground.
MARTINI raced keenly during the middle stages and then broke briefly when racing towards the 800 metres when being heavily restrained.
PRESTINE improved three wide near the 1400 metres, but weakened nearing the 500 metres inconveniencing ZACHARY BINX. When questioned with regards to the run of the mare, trainer T Butt was at a loss to explain the performance and advised he would be having his personal vet examine PRESTINE in the coming days. Mr Butt undertook to notify Stewards of anything that may come to light which could explain the performance.
MARTINI was held up in the middle stages of the run home.
D O'Connell as the driver of MARTINI was spoken to advisedly for attempting to improve his position near the 600 metres where insufficient racing room existed.
 
Race 10 BLAIR CUNNINGHAM CONSTRUCTION MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
DONEGAL CAM'S CARD broke in the score up but recovered to regain its position at the start.
Racing past the 1500 metres CRIMSON GLORY hung inwards and conceded two lengths to BETTY GOLIGHTLY which it was trailing, this in turn allowed the improving SUNNIVUE BAY BOY to shift down the track and into the two wide line. T McMillan was shown the films and cautioned for allowing his runner (CRIMSON GLORY) to race on the sulky wheel of SUNNIVUE BAY BOY racing towards the 1200 metres.
SUNNIVUE BAY BOY hung inwards on the final bend with the gelding having to be steadied for approximately 100 metres.
J Curtin (FIRST FLIGHT IN) dropped his foot from the sulky foot rest on the final bend when having some difficulty activating the gelding's deafeners.
Racing towards the 50 metres BETTY GOLIGHTLY shifted outwards and made contact with NO WAY ELSE which was checked for a stride and taken wider which inconvenienced CRIMSON GLORY.
Stewards questioned T Chmiel (NO WAY ELSE) and T McMillan (CRIMSON GLORY) regarding the level of interference they had received in this incident, however both drivers advised that their chances of finishing in a higher place had not been affected. Stewards spoke with Mr Jones as the driver of BETTY GOLIGHTLY regarding this who advised that the mare had been inclined to lay outwards throughout the run home and for this reason he had not drawn his whip. He added the mare had responded well to being driven with the reins but shifted outwards abruptly when vigorously tried. Stewards after reviewing the films accepted his explanation.
SHE'S GOT IT was held up over the concluding stages.
When questioned with regards to the performance of FIRST FLIGHT IN, driver J Curtin explained that the filly had lost interest in racing once he had activated the removable gear. Stable representative J Markham advised that should anything become apparent in the coming days which could explain the disappointing performance he would be in contact.
 
Race 11 TOTAL DRAINAGE & EXCAVATION MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
JOHNNY JET broke as the start was effected. A warning was placed on the gelding's mobile barrier record.
M Williamson (BILLY KLONDIKE) will be spoken to regarding the start of this event and his positioning on an unruly drawn horse.
JOHNNY JET was held up on the final bend by the tiring DOCTOR MCDREAMY and was then checked into a gallop when the weakening SMART KAMWOOD hung inwards and locked sulky wheels with the gelding.
