Race 1 NEVELE R STUD PACE Video  Video 
The boring pole on LITTLE LION MAN was removed prior to the start after the gelding warmed up unfavourably.
THOMAS reared and swung sideways prior to the start causing a delay. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
DATOM HOT SHOT reared prior to the start.
THOMAS broke at the start.
GOT A BEAUTY, MISTER ZEUS and REAL LOVE tangled away at the start.
MISTER ZEUS commenced to tire from the 800 metres.
MAXIMUS PRIME (S Ottley) paced roughly nearing the 700 metres when attempting to shift THE PERSUADER wider on the track. Driver S Ottley was shown the replay and warned for the manner in which she shifted ground.
MISTER ZEUS struck several pylons near the 400 metres when hanging inwards. Driver R Harneiss was shown the replay and warned to make a better effort to ensure contact is not made with the track markers. A warning was placed on the racing performance of MISTER ZEUS. The connections advised that they would make gear changes on MISTER ZEUS prior to resuming.
THOMAS was held up for clear racing early in the run home.
LITTLE LION MAN was held up for clear racing room through the early and middle stages of the run home.
 
Race 2 goHARNESS FUN FOR EVERYONE TROT Video  Video 
POPPA DON reared and fell back on its hind quarters as the field addressed the barrier strand resulting in Starter P Lamb turning the field away to re-assemble. Stewards requested a pre-race veterinary examination of POPPA DON with the gelding being cleared to start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of POPPA DON.
CARIBBEAN FIZZ broke at the start checking RENEGADE FIGHTER which also broke.
SONEY BEATT broke briefly after 100 metres.
FAMILY NIGHT trotted roughly approaching the winning post on the first occasion.
BROOKSIDE COLT raced wide and hung inwards in the early stages.
FAMILY NIGHT broke passing the 1600 metres hampering the trailing POPPA DON and GAEL LUDLOW.
FAMILY NIGHT again broke passing the 700 metres and early in the run home. Trainer G McCrea advised Stewards that the mare would be sent for a spell.
GAEL LUDLOW broke passing the 400 metres.
SQUIRE JOHN broke with 350 metres to race after driver P Wakelin activated the removable deafeners on the gelding.
HENLEY PARK and BROOKSIDE COLT were held up for clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
 
Race 3 TOWNSEND SEEDS INTERNATIONAL PACE Video  Video 
INCHBONNIE LAD and IT'S ALL OVER NOW shifted outwards slightly as the start was effected.
THE SMOOCHA, MARQUIS EYRE and MONEYFORJAM broke at the start.
MONEYFORJAM shifted inwards abruptly when in a break severely checking HOLY HARRY, FRANCO TARIQ and ALWAYS YOURS with AS KIWI AS also being inconvenienced. A warning was placed on the barrier record of MONEYFORJAM. Trainer D Flint advised she would re-assess the mare's racing future.
MARQUIS EYRE hung outwards early in the run home.
THE SMOOCHA (J Curtin) shifted inwards in the run home placing MARQUIS EYRE (M Neilson) in restricted room near the 100 metres. Driver J Curtin was shown the replay and warned to make a greater effort to keep straight in the run home.
When questioned regarding the performance of MAGOOGAN, driver S Golding explained that he had been disappointed with the way the gelding had finished the race off. He added that MAGOOGAN would now be sent for a spell.
 
Race 4 PGG WRIGHTSON/MOTUKARARA WORKOUTS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
BUONO AMICI broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
Shortly after the start ALTISSIMO broke and ran outwards severely checking CHANGEOVER A FLYIN, ATCHOO and DAG AND WASHINGTON. ALTISSIMO was placed on the unruly for future mobile starts.
STORM MAGUIRE over-raced in the early stages.
DANA DYNASTY over-raced throughout when racing parked and hung outwards in the early stages of the run home.
Drivers C DeFilippi (BIRD OF PARADISE) and G O'Reilly (BELLISARIO) reported that they were unable to activate the removable deafeners on their respective runners due to their cords becoming entangled.
 
Race 5 TAI TAPU HOTEL & GARRY THOMPSON PACE Video  Video 
AGNES DE GEROLSTEIN, JUBILANT FRANCO, LIFESTYLER and COYOTE broke at the start.
Warnings were placed on the standing start records of AGNES DE GEROLSTEIN and LIFESTYLER.
PRIVATE JONES paced roughly in the early stages and again in the run home.
VALMARA broke briefly early in the run home.
COYOTE broke near the 250 metres. When questioned regarding this, driver R Curtin reported that the gelding had been cross-firing.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of LIFESTYLER, trainer K Collins explained that the gelding had failed to see out the distance in its first run back from a spell. He added that the horse had performed well at a recent workout and had appreciated the shorter distance of today's race.
Driver K Cox advised that ZOEROTTEN had lost a shoe during the running.
 
Race 6 BURNSIDE CONTRACTORS LTD PACE Video  Video 
ARDWELLS KEY, FRANCO TYSON and LAVROS IS KING broke at the start with FRANCO TYSON shifting inwards abruptly checking CANNDEW and SPECIAL BELLA.
Warnings were placed on the standing start records of ARDWELLS KEY and FRANCO TYSON.
JERICHO tangled away as the start was effected.
SHE'S GOT IT broke after 150 metres inconveniencing CANNDEW with SHE'S GOT IT being retired from the race.
LAVROS IS KING tired rounding the final bend. Stewards requested a post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which revealed no abnormalities.
SPECIAL BELLA gave ground on the final bend with the trailing SUPREME SIGN being held up for some distance.
A Lethaby as the driver of FRANCO HEPBURN admitted a breach of Rule 869(2)(a) in that she used her whip in a manner that Stewards deemed excessive in the home straight. After considering submissions on penalty the JCA suspended Mrs Lethaby's Horsewoman's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 21 December 2014 (3 days).
 
Race 7 MAJESTIC SON AT ALABAR HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
Trainer P Nairn (LE GARCON) was issued a minor infringement notice for failing to notify driver D Butt by the prescribed time and was fined $50.
PAMMYS BOY, SOLAR SAM, ZACHARY BINX and CLOVER MAC broke at the start.
YOUNG STRANGER and OPAWA SPEED raced wide in the early stages.
DANKE broke when negotiating the crossing near the 1700 metres.
JAMES CASTLETON broke near the 800 metres and again passing the 300 metres. Trainer K Barron advised Stewards that the gelding would be sent for a spell.
SOLAR SAM broke early in the run home.
SARAH PALIN was held up for clear racing room passing the 300 metres.
FIREMAN had difficulty securing clear running in the home straight.
REGAL MOMENT trotted roughly in the run home.
LAVROS SEGIL hung outwards in the final straight.
PETITE ROYAL trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
 
Race 8 RESOURCE RECYCLING TECHNOLOGIES STUNIN CULLEN AKAROA CUP Video  Video 
EXCUSE MAKER was subjected to a pre-race veterinary examination and cleared to race.
VICE CONSUL, SONNETSSON and MADIBA MAGIC all broke as the start was effected.
VICE CONSUL was placed on the unruly for future standing starts at the request of co-trainer M Purdon.
DESTINED FOR GLORY shifted outwards at the start checking GREENBURN CREEK which broke. A warning was placed on the standing start manners of DESTINED FOR GLORY.
THE BRIGADIER broke near the 2200 metres when challenging for the lead and lost all chance. A warning was placed on the racing manners of THE BRIGADIER. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer N McGrath advised he would have bloods taken from the gelding in the coming days and advise Stewards of the results.
MIGHTY FLYING MAC raced wide passing the 2000 metres when improving forward.
JERRY GARCIA was placed in restricted room near the 1900 metres when MIGHTY FLYING MAC shifted down the track. Driver D Dunn (MIGHTY FLYING MAC) was shown the replay and warned to ensure he leaves sufficient room for inside runners.
PAY ME ART hung inwards when improving three wide near the 1100 metres hampering JERRY GARCIA.
Authorisation of 4th placing being awarded to VICE CONSUL was withheld until Stewards were satisfied that the horse had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations when breaking in the early stages.
 
Race 9 CANTERBURY TROTTING OWNERS ASSOCIATION PACE Video  Video 
JACKO, KASHIN and TUBBY JIM tangled as the start was effected.
ASTRO BOY broke near the 1600 metres and lost a considerable amount of ground. When questioned regarding this, driver S Ottley was of the opinion that the gelding may have struck itself.
TUBBY JIM struggled to maintain its position with the body of the field from the 700 metres with the trailing ELBEAU being held up. A warning was placed on the gelding's performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed possible signs of muscle tie up. Trainer R Paterson advised that he would have blood tests taken in the coming days from the gelding and would notify Stewards of the results.
FIERY LUSTRE was held up for clear racing room through the early and middle stages of the run home.
When questioned regarding the performance of SUPERINTENDENT, driver J Dunn expressed disappointment with the effort of the gelding. He advised that it would be the stable's intention to alter the training regime of the gelding.
ELBEAU was removed from the unruly for future standing starts.

CULINARY DELIGHT paced roughly when negotiating the crossing near the 1700 metres.
BEYOND BELIEF raced greenly near the 1600 metres and struck several pylons.
CULINARY DELIGHT over-raced in the middle stages.
CARISMA was held up for clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
Driver S Ottley reported that she was unable to activate the removable deafeners or sliding blinds on GOING TO CALIFORNIA.
Trainer B Ward defended a charge under Rule 864(2)(d) in that he failed to affix the removable gear on GOING TO CALIFORNIA so as not to malfunction. After hearing the evidence and viewing the replays, the JCA upheld the charge and imposed a fine $100.
